Industrial society's male breadwinner model has declined. Women have entered the labour market and men participate more in unpaid family work. However, there are still significant gender differences in the labour market and the family.
It is widely agreed that an enhanced family role for men is an important precondition for increased gender equality, but men's traditional role as financial providers has been less discussed in the gender equality debate.
This project will result in a report that outlines changes in men’s provider role and its significance today, based on existing research (mainly from Norway).
