The Nordic Research and Policy Network on Boys and Men aims to:
- promote high-quality empirical interdisciplinary research on issues that affect the well-being of boys and men
- contribute to public debate and evidence-based policy development within, across and beyond the Nordic countries
In order to achieve these aims, the network will:
- facilitate research cooperation within the Nordic countries
- organize conferences, lectures and seminars
- collect and publish comparative data
- publish policy recommendations based on empirical research
By gathering researchers working on a range of topics and disciplines and across the Nordic region, the network aims to contribute to a shared understanding of contemporary and emerging challenges for boys and men from a Nordic gender equality perspective. The network will promote empirical interdisciplinary research from a broad range of fields, focusing initially on political science, economics, sociology, public health, and social psychology.
Key topics of research:
- employment, careers and labour markets
- education and skills
- fatherhood and family
- public opinion, the public sphere, and politics
- intersections with age, class and migrant background
The project runs for the period August 2027–August 2029 and is funded by the Gambrell Foundation (US) and Rise Together, a donor advised fund established by Richard Reeves, founding president of the American Institute for Boys and Men.
