The project aims to study wage development among researchers in Norway and consists of two parts. In the first part, we present updated figures for the period 2022–2024 on wage development among academic staff in both the public and private sectors, compared with wage growth for other groups in the labor market. The report builds on previous reports carried out by the Institute for Social Research (ISF) on behalf of the Norwegian Association of Researchers.
In the second part of the project, we examine possible consequences of the changes to collective agreements in the state sector in 2022. That year, a joint collective agreement was established for Unio and Akademikerne, which led to a significantly greater emphasis on local wage negotiations. The change may have increased flexibility in wage formation, but it may also have opened the door to a more uneven distribution of wage increases between different groups.
