The project focuses on teenagers and their media entertainment habits, and asks whether those who are born into a global media culture form habits that are different from those of previous generations, and in case, why.
The project takes four different approaches to these questions:
- One approach focuses on youth themselves, and uses survey methods and qualitative in-depth interviews to map their media use and reflections upon these
- Another part looks at the field of Norwegian and global content producers, how these operate and how they are positioned in relation to each other
- We also follow selected Norwegian media productions targeting youth, and study their premises for reaching this target group
- Finally, we study Norwegian media policies, and how these enable the production of Norwegian content aimed at youth. We also compare with media policies in selected other countries.
