Forests are important but contested sites of climate change politics, taking central stage in EU’s Green Deal. Given Romania’s membership in the EU, national legislation and policies as well as traditional forest practices, there are multiple narratives surrounding Romania’s forests. Drawing on forest policies and legislation, followed by interviews with relevant actors, we explore different narratives surrounding Romania’s forests and ask: what kind of forest management policies and practices these different narratives engender, and do they align?
