Project Background – Working from home and online meetings
Starting March 12th 2020, a number of measures were implemented in Norway to slow down the spreading of the COVID-19-virus. In many industries this implied working from home as much as possible. This also put an end to face to face-meetings in the workplace, and transferred all meetings to digital platforms (Skype, Teams, Zoom and others).
Project Aim – Older workers' situation
This study looks into age differences in coping with this transition. It is a widespread myth that older workers find the use of new technologies difficult. If so, this new way of working must have been particularly hard for them. In addition, it is possible that working from home affects job motivation differently among workers who are close to retirement age.
Project Approach – Survey
Methodologically, the study relies on a survey among 1000 employees in industries where many have been instructed to work from home. The survey was carried out in May 2020.
