Liza Reisel

Liza Reisel’s research address inequalities in education, gender segregation in the labor market, equality and diversity legislation, education and labor market outcomes among children of immigrants, and health disparities. Many of her projects involve international comparative research based on large scale quantitative data or document analyses. She is PI of the projects Determined to succeed? Maturation, Motivation and Gender Gaps in Educational Achievement and Research Policy and the Boundaries of the Ideal Academic, both financed by the the Research Council of Norway.

Reisel has co-edited two volumes on central gender equality topics: Kjønnsdeling og etniske skiller på arbeidsmarkedet (2014) and Gender Segregation in Vocational Education (2015)She is a member of the publicly appointed committee on Men’s equality (Mannsutvalget).

Reisel has her PhD in Sociology from the City University of New York. Reisel's doctoral thesis compared inequality in education in the United States and Norway. She has a Master's Degree in Migration and Ethnic Studies from the University of Amsterdam. From 2011 to 2015 she edited the Norwegian Journal of Working Life Studies (Søkelys på arbeidslivet). She is currently a member of the editorial board of the yearbook Comparative Social Research
