  Om EMN

EMN Norway

On this website you will find reports, news and activities regarding the development of a European migration policy. The information and links provided are relevant for public employees, politicians, journalists, students, academics and the wider public.

The European Migration Network provides the main hub for gathering and spreading information in the region. The Network is supported and coordinated by the European Commission. Norway has been a member of EMN since 2010 as the only non-EU country. This website represents the direct link to the ongoing process of harmonization of migration and refugee policy/regulation in Europe.

The Norwegian contact point to the EMN consists of Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Directorate of Immigration and Institute for Social Research. In addition to providing and spreading comparable information on migration and asylum in Europe, it is the ambition of the Norwegian member-group to bring attention to the link between Norway and the EU in these politically sensitive areas.

What is EMN?

The European Migration Network (EMN) is a network coordinated by the European Commission, consisting of national focal points and national networks in all EU countries, plus Norway. Its purpose is to provide up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information on migration and asylum with a view to supporting policymaking in the European Union in these areas, as well as to the wider public.

Activities

The network's research and analysis activities include:

  • Annual reports on migration policy
  • Annual reports on migration statistics
  • Thematic studies
  • Ad hoc queries
